Marlborough's email system blocks all zip file attachments from either coming into or leaving the system - as inconvenient as it is to everyone, they are just such a bad malware vector. To circumvent this block, either have your sender unzip the files and re-attach (if they are not too big - our limit in Gmail is 25mb), or if they are too big, use Google Drive or Dropbox or a similar service to share the files - let the ARC team know if you need help.

You will know if you are missing zip file attachments if you receive the following text in a message you receive:

"The Marlborough School email system has removed a compressed file (e.g. zip file) attachment from this email for security reasons. Marlborough does not allow compressed files because they are a common method used to spread Cryptolocker-type viruses.

If you are trying to share a file legitimately with someone, and it is too large to email uncompressed, please use an alternative method for sharing the file such as Google Drive or Dropbox.

Please contact helpdesk@marlborough.org or call ext 899 if you need assistance."
