Chrome Extension Recommendations from Ms. Lisa Lamont


There are many other Chrome extensions available. Video editors, audio editors, photo editors, productivity tools and much, much more! I have curated this list of my personal favorites, but I encourage you to reach out to me, or explore the Chrome Web Store to find yours!



  1. Kami PDF - annotate PDFs on your computer! This fantastic add on lets you highlight, type and draw rough sketches. The expanded version allows you to sign PDFs and more! Use this in your classes to have your students edit documents on a variety of devices. Also excellent for “editing” PDFs for other uses.

  2. Google Tasks - Google Tasks is an excellent way to keep track of tasks, without clogging up your Google Calendar. The Google Tasks addon allows you to access your tasks from any window. Check off tasks while browsing the web, writing an email and more.

  3. Be Limitless - Ever wondered how you spend your time online? Be Limitless tracks your time on the web, letting you know how you spend your day. It also informs you of upcoming activities whenever you open a new tab and provides inspiring quotes to keep you motivated!

  4. Cite This For Me: Web Citer- A great tool for students! This addon instantly provides a citation in the format of your choosing for websites. Use this yourself to give credit where credit is due and model digital citizenship!

  5. ColorZilla - Do you or your students make graphics, flyers or presentations? Are you a bit obsessive about your Haiku page? Interested in duplicating that EXACT Windward Blue? Add ColorZilla to your browser and grab the exact color code you need! *Hint: Both Canva and Haiku use hexcodes for colors - ask me how!

  6. Honey - Do you shop online? Then you probably will want to check out Honey! Honey scours the web for all available promotional codes and tries them all in your shopping cart at checkout! It takes less than 60 seconds for Honey to save you money!

  7. Adblock Plus - While browsing the web, especially at work and in class, who wants to be bothered by annoying ads and popups? Let Adblock Plus get rid of those for you!

  8. Goo.gl URL shortener - Use a lot of websites in emails or in class? Quickly cut those urls down to a manageable size with this url shortener. (Bit.ly version also available).

  9. Twitshot - Are you on Twitter? You should be! Ask me how! Share articles and websites easily with Twitshot. One click starts a Tweet including a subject line, the web address and your choice of any photo on the page!

  10. DF YouTube - Ever wanted to show a YouTube video in class, or in a presentation, but have been worried about what else might show up? Worry no more! Distraction Free YouTube blocks out all ads and “suggested” videos, providing a clean and distraction free viewing experience!

  11. Tab Snooze - If you’re like me, you have a million tabs open at once! With Tab Snoozer, you can close those tabs, more easily find what you need now and still know that those tabs will come back to remind you later! Snooze for an hour, a day, a week, or set a date!

  12. Boomerang - My all time favorite! Boomerang will change your (email) life! Set emails to send at a later date or time, get a reminder when someone hasn’t read or responded to your email so you can follow up, schedule any email with a date (itinerary, etc) to return to your inbox at a later time! This tool is MAGICAL.

  13. Screencastify - Interested in making a screencast for your class, or to provide instructions on a piece of tech? Screencastify makes it easy to screencast your desktop, or a tab in your web browser! You can also save video files directly to Google Drive for easy sharing!

  14. Select and Speak Text to Speech- Text to speech made simple! This free text to speech tool can read any text found in your web browser! A little robotic, but the pronunciation is surprisingly good! An excellent tool for students who may benefit from hearing as well as reading text.

  15. Save to Google Drive - Did you know that you can save directly from the web to your Google Drive? I didn’t either! This extensions might just be one of my new favorites! Right click on a link to a PDF or document and automatically save it to your Drive! You can also save HTML 5 video, screenshots from the web and more!

  16. Lightshot - This screenshot tool couldn’t be easier! Click on the Lightshot icon, then select the area of the screen you’d like to capture, you can even the image by adding text, arrows and more! Save directly to your computer or host it online on Lightshot’s servers!

  17. Flatbook - Tired of being advertized to on your Facebook feed? Seriously not up for a game of Words with Friends, then perhaps Flatbook is for you! Adding Flatbook to your browser creates a sleek, easy to navigate Facebook experience!

  18. Emoji Keyboard (2016) - You might just need
